As part of our contribution to the celebration of Highland culture during 2007, Scottish Natural Heritage has commissioned an exhibition of Highland Naturalists which is being initially staged at Great Glen House in Inverness.

Mar phàirt den bhliadhna Cultar na Gaidhealtachd ann an 2007, tha Dualchas Nàdair na h-Alba air taisbeanadh a chuir air dòigh le luchd-nàdar a' Ghàidhealtachd, a thèid a chumail aig Taigh a' Ghlinne Mhòir ann an Inbhir Nis.

We have chosen to feature the work of a selection of naturalists, living and dead, who have changed the way we think about the Highlands and Islands. Their studies guide us through the early beginnings of natural history recording, through the 'Golden Age' of nature conservation and right up to the present day. We aim to draw attention to the valuable work that has taken place which has informed our understanding of the natural heritage and hope to inspire others to continue this tradition with their own studies.

Tha sinn air roghainn de luchd-nàdar a tha beò agus marbh a thaghadh far a bheil an obair aca air ar n-inntinn atharrachadh air mar a tha sinn a’ smaointinn mu dheidhinn a’ Ghaidhealtachd ‘s na h-Eileanan. Tha an rannsachadh a tha iad air a dhèanamh a’ toirt stiùireadh dhuinn bho tràth aig toiseach na clàraidhean eachdraidheil, tron “Linn Òrach” de glèidhteachas nàdar chun an latha diugh.

A website and on-line resource is being developed in support of the exhibit and this will provide a lasting legacy and resource for the future. The exhibition will open on 23rd June, as part of the Great Glen House Open Day and will be open to the public for around three months afterwards.

Tha làrach lìn ga chruthachadh an drasda an taic ris an taisbeanadh seo agus bi seo na dìleab maireannach agus na goireas airson an àm ri teachd. Bi an taisbeanadh a’ fosgladh air an 23mh den t-Òg-Mhios mar phàirt den latha fosglaidh aig Taigh a’ Ghlinne Mhòir agus bi e fosgailte dhan phoblach airson tri mìosan as dèidh seo.

The opening times for the exhib are week days between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. from Monday 25th June to Friday 28 September.
