eagle chicks at the

This photograph by Seton Gordon was taken in the mid 1920s and captures the adult eagle landing on the nest with two well grown chicks standing nearby. Its a remarkable shot, difficult to capture at any time, but undoubtedly made all the more remarkable due to the rudimentary glass plate camera use and the limits of the early photographic process. One can just pick out the flies hovering over the nest - attracted by the prey remains accumulated during the weeks when the young are growing. © Seton Gordon Literary Estate
